Since Matthews was founded in 1991, we have focused on one common goal: innovative active investment solutions that create better outcomes for our clients. In our experience, this requires not only talented people but also an inclusive and collaborative culture that allows them to thrive and succeed.
Diversity and Inclusion
Matthews was founded as a global, multi-cultural enterprise. Our mix of experience, expertise, nationalities, cultures, perspectives, and people has been a continuous thread in our success. While many studies are now showing that diverse teams outperform, we have always found Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) critical to our success. Since our firm’s beginning, Matthews has fostered an inclusive work environment that seeks to attract and retain the best talent, and promotes diversity of thought and collaboration, by:
We seek to attract, retain and develop diverse talent with the aim of expanding our overall wealth of skills and ideas.
Managers build an environment where collaboration is vital and employees feel valued for their abilities and comfortable bringing their unique selves to work.
We believe bringing together the perspectives and experiences of individuals of diverse background and experiences can generate more comprehensive and varied approaches to problem-solving.
Matthews has been committed to supporting Diversity and Inclusion initiatives since our founding. Our Diversity & Inclusion Committee is responsible for promoting the firm’s efforts. The group has representatives from all parts of the business and focuses on four broad areas:
Awareness
Educating and informing through a series of speakers, explorations, and celebrations of diversity.
Education and Tools
Providing training, practical tools and guides to build an inclusive culture.
Workplace Policies and Processes
Constantly evolving our efforts to attract, develop and retain diverse talent.
Measurement and Accountability
Promoting measurement and accountability of diversity and inclusion goals of the firm.
Our efforts and initiatives cannot be successful without buy-in from organizational leaders. That’s why our Diversity & Inclusion Committee works closely with senior leaders in our firm. Our long-term goal setting, for example, is a collaborative effort that brings the Leadership Team, Diversity & Inclusion and other Committees.
